Description

GERARD MALANGA is widely regarded as one of the most important poets and photographers of his generation whose work has appeared in hundreds of publications over the last six decades. As a young man in the 1960s, he was Andy Warhol's chief assistant and collaborator, helping the artist create his most important paintings, sculptures, and movies from 1964-71. During this period, Malanga created a large body of his own movies which remain largely unseen. In 2012, editor and archivist Dagon James, with Malanga, set out to create the definitive monograph of his movies. Gerard Malanga's Secret Cinema documents nearly every movie he created from 1964-71 with detailed film notes by Malanga himself. Over the years, Malanga's films were scattered and in some cases only one print exists which made this book uniquely difficult to complete.
