They Gave The Walls A Talking: Hot Press Special Exhibition Issue

Ireland's Hot Press magazine has been at the heart of the extraordinary growth and development of Irish music over the past 40 plus years. The magazine enjoyed a special relationship with The Pogues and the band's main songwriter and frontman, Shane MacGowan - who appeared on the front cover eight times. It was against this backdrop that, in the latter half of 2023, Hot Press was approached by EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum to curate an exbition about the band. To coincide with the exhibition in Dublin, Hot Press produced a special issue of the magazine with numerous guest contributors. Following the sad death of Shane MacGowan on Nov. 30, 2023, additional material has been written for this unique special publication, created specially for the run of 'They Gave The Walls A Talking' at the Bob Dylan Center.

This special exhibition issue of Hot Press features 36 pages of accounts from guest contributors including Jem Finer, Nick Cave, Siobhan MacGowan, Steve Lillywhite, Damien Dempsey, Imelda May, Bob Geldof, and more.
